Gaur Among Tea

An Indian gaur, the largest bovine in the world, stands among tea fields in the Western Ghats. In many places, a tentative peace is maintained between humans and these creatures, who each year claim two lives when people mistake their form on dark nights. As a whole, however, they are calm creatures, often foraging mere meters from tea workers.

Wouldn’t like to meet one on a bright day let alone a dark night, the size they are! Great photo, though. 🙂

    1. Haha, thank you! Once while running we came across them; that was slightly terrifying – we waited for them to cross the path, but once they were gone, it was like they had never been there at all.
